Willowood Hospice

Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton-under-Lyne provides specialist care and support to the people of Tameside and Glossop who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Each year they organise a Ladies Midnight Wander to raise funds for patient care. Grimwood and Dix were more than pleased to sponsor the event and offer their services by means of lighting to the tents and power to the canteen, to ensure the walk ran smoothly. The walk proved to be a huge success with almost 2000 ladies taking part and £165,000 being raised.

Willow Wood Hospice held another fundraising evening on 4th October with their very own “Hospice Singers”. The Willow Wood Singers are comprised of members of staff and volunteers who work at the Hospice and Grimwood and Dix were once again proud to have sponsored the event to raise money for the patients.

Oldham Athletic AFC

Grimwood and Dix have supported Oldham Athletic through advertising and match sponsorship for a number of years now and have a signboard at their home ground at Boundary Park.

Oldham have never won a major trophy, but they did reach the League Cup final in 1990 (losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest), and were FA Cup semi-finalists in 1990 and 1994 (losing both times to eventual winner Manchester United). Their most recent spell in the top flight lasted from 1991 until 1994, and on the final day of the inaugural Premier League season, they avoided relegation on goal difference after a remarkable 4–3 win over Southampton.

North West Irish Draft Horse Show

Grimwood and Dix are pleased to be involved with a number of sponsorships in the local community, the most recent being the North West Irish Draught & Hunter show. The show, now in it's third year, is recognised as a leading event for the Irish Draught Horse, second only to the Annual Breed Show in September. Despite the wettest August on record, the weather was wonderfully dry and the show ran successfully. In the picture below the pure bred section winner is on the right and is Barracaberry Orbit, a stallion ridden by Julie Cornthwaite from Blackburn. The horse on the left, is the part bred section winner, Artello Of Oulart ridden by Joan Butterworth from Cumbria.

Saddleworth Rangers ARLFC

Kevin Duffy (front row middle) and the Saddleworth Rangers Team

Grimwood and Dix have been the main sponsor for Saddleworth Rangers ARLFC for over twenty years now and supported them through times of success and hardship.

Three consecutive Standard Cups were won in 1990 - 92. Saddleworth were National League Champions and Cup winners in 1992 - 93, and were National Cup Winners a record three years out of four between 1990 and 1994.

The most memorable of these years has to be 1992 - 93 when Rangers won the National Conference League Championship, the National Conference League Cup, and the National Amateur Challenge Cup. No other club has ever won all three trophies in the same season, nor will they ever again as the National Cup competition has been shelved. This victory was probably the most prestigious in the club’s history, played as it was at Knowsley Road against a powerful Hensingham team who had prevailed along with Saddleworth from the 200 teams who entered the competition.

Saddleworth Round Table

Another well-established event which Grimwood and Dix are proud to support is the annual Beer Walk in Saddleworth. The beer walk is a merry event for all, with many participating in fancy dress costume, and takes place in the villages of Uppermill, Delph, Diggle and Dobcross. The walk can be rather strenuous but plenty of refreshment is provided en-route. The Beer Walk has reached its 35th year and this year’s event is estimated to have raised upwards of £80,000 for various charities.
